DAY 1 - BAGDOGRA AIRPORT [IXB] / NJP STATION TO GANGTOK

Meet & Greet on arrival at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or NJP Station and drive to Gangtok (Altitude of Gangtok 1,650 m / 5550 Ft). The picturesque Teesta follows you all the way. On arrival Gangtok, check in to the hotel. You could stroll about the neighborhood or shop at MG Marg in the evening.

DAY 2 - GANGTOK TO LACHEN TRANSFER

After breakfast, you'll be picked up from the hotel at Gangtok at about 10 a.m. and drive towards Lachen via NH 31A. On the way stop and enjoy a few wonderful spots like :

Kabi Longstok - A historic place, located on North Sikkim Highway. This is the where a treaty between Lepcha Chief Te-Kung-Tek and the Bhutia Chief Khey-Bum-Sar was signed.

Mostly perennial in nature, waterfalls are aplenty in this region, Bhim Nala & the Twin Waterfalls are two others one comes across en route to North Sikkim and the gorgeous Teesta follows you all the way.

Lunch will be served at Namok. You are likely to reach Lachen around the evening. Overnight at Hotel / Home Stay at Lachen.

DAY 3 - LACHEN TO GURUDONGMAR LAKE EXCURSION

Early in the morning start for Gurudongmar Lake Tour located at an altitude of 5,154 m above sea level and one of the most sacred lakes believed by the Buddhists and Hindus alike. The beautiful and awe-inspiring lake remains milky in color throughout the year. According to a legend, since the lake used to remain frozen most of the year, it was not possible to use its water for drinking purposes. When the Guru Padmasambhava passed by, while returning from Tibet, the local residents are reported to have approached him for providing a source of water.

The Guru obliged. A portion of the lake touched by him does not freeze in extreme winter. Since the water of the lake is considered sacred, visitors carry the 'blessed' water in bottles. After lunch, check out from hotel and transfer to Lachung. Lachung is located at an altitude of 2700 m above sea level. The distanc between Lachen and Lachung is 1 hr 55 min (46.9 km) via Lachen Rd. Reach Lachung, take rest. Overnight stay at the Hotel / Homestay at Lachung.

DAY 4 - LACHUNG TO YUMTHANG VALLEY EXCURSION

After breakfast, start your journey to beautiful Yumthang Valley. Yumthang Valley is located 25km from Lachung at an altitude of 11,800 ft. It is almost 1.30 hrs drive through numerous mountain rivers, streams, bridges and roads with full bloom Rhododendron. The valley remains covered under thick blanket of snow in winter and in summer Rhododendron, Primulas welcomes you during your entire journey. You can also visit Zero Point which is 23 away from Yumthang Valley at an altitude of 15,000 ft above sea level. (Note : Zero point travel is extra Cost subject to Permit and Road Condition).

Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary - Spread over 43 sq km through which flows the Yumthang river, it adjoins Lachung and Yumthang. The Sanctuary which is known for its abundance of Rhododendron shrubs and trees is rich in ground flora and other vegetation as well.

DAY 5 - KATAO EXCURSION AND TOWARDS GANGTOK

After lunch in Lachung, transfer to Gangtok. On the way visit spectacular Katao Valley. Katao is located just 23km away from Lachung and almost 144km from the capital city Gangtok. In winter heavy snowfall makes this valley cover under thick blanket of snow. In summer the valley looks stunning with vibrant Rhododendron, Primula and Poppy flowers. If due to snowfall, Yumthang valley is not accessible, guests can opt for Katao Valley Tour. Stroll around the pine forest and behold the mesmerizing beauty of North Sikkim.

Here one points to remember that Katao Valley is very close to China border, so tight security is obvious in check point. Generally guests are not allowed after some extent in Katao due to security reason. So, travelling some of extreme part of North Sikkim, a special Protected Area Permit (PAP) is required for both Indian citizen and foreign travelers. Even foreign travelers are not allowed to travel Gurudonglar Lake, Zero Point and Katao Valley as these places are very close to China border.

After spending some quality time in Katao, proceed to Gangtok. Overnight stay at the hotel in Gangtok.

DAY 6 - GANGTOK TO TSOMGO LAKE TOUR

After breakfast, start for a full day trip to -

Tsomgo Lake is located at an altitude of 12,310ft above sea level. The Lake is only 45 kms from Gangtok City, the Lake is almost about 1Km long, oval in shape and 15 mtrs deep. The Lake is considered sacred by the local people. 12 kms further visit the -

New Baba Harvajan Singh Mandir - believed to have wish-fulfilling powers. On Sundays a ‘langar’ is run at the temple which provides free meals to the visitors.

Tsomgo Lake Tour
Nathula Pass, was a major corridor of passage between India and Tibet before it was closed in 1962. Located around 56 kms from Gangtok at an altitude of 14450 ft, the road to Nathula, one of the highest motorable roads, passes through the Tsomgo lake. On a clear day you can even see the road winding down the Chumbi valley.

NOTE : Nathula Pass visit will be on direct payment basis as because it depends on availability of permit from army and weather & road Condition. Overnight at Gangtok.

DAY 7 - FULL DAY GANGTOK CITY TOUR

After breakfast, start for a tour in and around Gangtok City. Visit -

Tashi View Point - built by Tashi Namgyal, offering a panoramic view of Mt Khangchendzonga.

Gonjang Monastery - this Monastery near Tashi View Point was established in the year 1981. The founder is H.E. Tingkye Gonjang Rimpoche. He was recognised as an incarnation of Yolmo Terton Ngakchang Shakya Zangpo, a 15th century Nyingmapa Terton. The monastery follows Jangter tradition of Nyingmapa school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Do-drul Chorten - built by the Venerable Trullshi Rimpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibeten Buddhism, in 1945. Inside the stupa, there are complete mandala set of Dorjee phurba (Vajra Kilaya), a set of Kang Gyur relic (Holy Book), complete 'Zung' (mantras) and other religious objects. Around the Chorten, there are 108 Mani Lhakor (Prayer Wheels).

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology - the most prestigious research institute of its kind in the world, NIT is a treasure of vast collection of rare Lepcha, Tibetan and Sanskrit manuscripts, statues and rare Thankas (colourful tapestries used in Buddhist liturgy). Apart from an attractive museum, it has over 200 Buddhist icons and other prized objects of art.

Orchid House - the paradise made of orchids is located just below NIT and boasts a population of 250 exotic species of orchids.

Hur Huray Dara the Nam Nang View Point provides a panoramic view of the lush forests and the vibrant green valley.

DAY 8 - NORTH SIKKIM TOUR END WITH SWEET MEMORIES

In the morning you can stroll about in the mall. Later on, check out and drive to NJP / Bagdogra for return journey, and cherish your holiday forever.
